President Zuma to pay state visit to Qatar

South African President Jacob Zuma will on Thursday fly to Qatar for a state visit aimed at strengthening and evaluating bilateral relations between the two countries, the South African presidency said.

Relations between the two nations were enhanced in 2012 when Zuma visited Doha, during which discussions revolved around a wide range of issues and concrete projects that the two countries could engage in, including cooperation in water, energy, construction, agriculture and infrastructure development.

“The President is scheduled to meet with the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, as well as bilateral talks on trade and economic relations between the two countries and critical aspects related to global and regional security and stability,” said the Presidency.

During his visit, Zuma is also scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Father Emir of the State of Qatar, , Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani.
