Mogadishu residents frequent Liido Beach for some fun

Despite the on and off terror attacks by militants, Somalia is gradually getting peaceful. One of the bonuses of improved security in the capital, Mogadishu, is the beach.

Once off-limits, Liido draws thousands every weekend. There is more to the attraction than sun, sea and surf.

Meet Liidi Beach’s “Atooraha Badda” – Somali for Beach entertainer.

Ismail Salat Dahir may be unemployed, but he is not letting that stop him from making a name for himself.

He is a skilled entertainer, comedian and acrobat.

22 year Ismail is the main source of entertainment here at Mogadishu’s Liido Beach. But to him this is just the beginning. He has far greater ambitions in the future – including that of becoming a famous actor.
