Garissa University terror attack suspect gunned down
A terror suspect wanted by the Kenyan Police in connection with the deadly Garissa University College attack that occurred in April last year has been shot dead by the country’s Anti-Terrorism Police Unit, Daily Nation reports.
Suleiman Mohammd Awadh was killed together with three other terror suspects when the police launched a raid on a house in Malindi, in Kenya’s coastal region.
The police had put a Sh2 million bounty on Sulieman’s head, and was among the mopst wanted terror suspects in the East African country.
Inside the house, the police are reported to have found five hand grenades, a Beretta pistol with two rounds of ammunition, phones with several SIM cards and ID cards suspected to have been used to register the SIM cards.
Also found was a map of Malindi indicating places the police believe the terrorists intended to attack, and another showing how to connect Boni forest from Malindi.
According to Malindi OCPD Matawa Machangi, police also found a letter addressed to suspected Al-Shabaab financiers requesting funds, clothing and food.
He added that the suspects who escaped were believed to have an AK-47 rifle.
