Read < 1 minute

Few people can afford electricity in Senegal owing to high prices.

But solar power is proving to be a practical alternative for majority of the population.

Many in the capital Dakar are slowly embracing this green and cost effective source of power.

Solar is quickly rising as a prefered form of energy in Senegal.

Across Dakar technicians are actively installing solar equipment for homes, hotels, and companies.

A small solar water heater costs about 600 dollars.

With a 300 litre capacity, the equipment feels like a heaven sent for many residents.

But to supply all appliances in an average household, one would need more accessories, and that means sinking deeper into the pocket.

To solve that, a young Senegalese inventor developed a system that would enable price conscious people also enjoy benefits of solar electricity.
