EU to freeze all non-humanitarian aid to Burundi till peace deal
The European Union says it will provide funding to assist Burundi peace talks in Uganda following an escalation of violence in the country.
The announcement came as the European Parliament called for the suspension of all non-humanitarian aid to Burundi’s government.
Uganda’s Defense minister said on Saturday, Burundi’s warring parties will meet for peace talks again, in seven days time.
At least one party has refused to participate.
In the meantime, the United States is stepping up its sanctions, to try and get both sides back to the negotiating table.
