Egyptian authorities have dismissed claims by the Islamic state (ISIL) affiliates in Egypt that they had ‘brought down’ the Russian airliner that crashed in the Sinai killing 224 people on board.

Egyptian officials are investigating the scene of the crash that left no survivors. With the black box located, Russians and Egyptians have formed a joint committee to establish the cause of the crash of the Russian Airbus 321.

The Terrorists groups do not have the means to target passenger planes according to a security and military expert in Cairo. This is in response to ISIL announcement on a video posted on its website stating that the terrorist group had attacked the plane in retaliation to the Russian airstrikes on ISIL in Syria.

Earlier reports by the government had ruled out terrorist attack. Initially there had also been reports that the pilot had contacted Cairo Airport requesting an emergency landing citing technical malfunction on board before the plane disappeared from the radar seconds later.

Egyptian government has deployed 80 ambulances and helicopters to transport the victims’ bodies to suez and morgues in Cairo.
