China, Botswana Pledge Closer Cooperation

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talked with his Botswanan counterpart Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi on Friday and they pledged to boost cooperation between the two countries. Hailing the time-tested bilateral relationship, Wang said China stands ready to work with the Botswanan side to boost practical cooperation, highlighting agriculture and farming, the processing industry, infrastructure, human resources and medical care.

Wang looked forward to enhanced political trust, more people-to-people exchanges and closer coordination in international affairs between the two countries.

China will always be committed to win-win cooperation with African countries to achieve common development and make the world a more fair and harmonious place.

Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi, Botswanan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, thanked the Chinese side for its enduring assistance, saying she was appreciative of China’s important contribution to the development of Africa within the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

Botswana is willing to make joint efforts with China to increase political trust, deepen mutual understanding and expand reciprocal cooperation between the two nations, said the Botswanan foreign minister.

The two foreign ministers also exchanged views on international and regional affairs of common concern.
