World’s first underwater bar opens in Cozumel, Mexico

Read < 1 minute

The world’s first underwater bar has officially opened in the island of Cozumel, Mexico.

Guests at the Clear Lounge oxygen bar do not need to reserve tables or order drinks but instead pay for the experience of hanging out underwater.

They do this by wearing a helmet that releases mint- or citrus-scented oxygen. In the bar, which is set in the depths of a 13,000-gallon transparent aquarium lounge, no shirts or shoes are needed.

Aside from tasting aromatic air, guests can move around the tank and play board games, shoot bubble guns, and dance while moving around.

The innovative attraction has a bartender who serves up oxygen-infused fruit smoothies.

There are also write-on message boards, an underwater photo booth with props including lips and mustaches to play with.

Those above the age of eight are allowed inside the tank and the experience costs $38 per person.
