Read < 1 minute

A plane carrying former U.S. President Bill Clinton made an unexpected landing in rural Tanzania after an engine problem, according to a Clinton spokesman.

An unexpected landing happened on Wednesday after a problem with one of its four engines. The plane landed in Dodoma and was repaired before taking off to its intended destination.

An NBC employee used his cellphone camera to capture video of the plane landing and taxiing on the runway.

Clinton was in East Africa to monitor projects that have been funded by Clinton’s Foundation.

The projects are intended to boost agriculture, health, education and wildlife conservation. Clinton and his daughter Chelsea are also scheduled to visit Kenya, Liberia and Morocco.
