Qatar 2022 World Cup: Final confirmed as 18 December

The 2022 World Cup in Qatar will be played in November and December and the final will be held on Dec. 18.

This is according to FIFA’s director of communications Walter de Gregorio.

De Gregorio told reporters that the decision was made by the executive committee of soccer’s ruling body FIFA after a recommendation by a task force that was set up specifically to discuss the issue.

He said the starting date had yet to be decided, but the intention was that the tournament would last four weeks.

The announcement ends more than four years of indecision.

Qatar was awarded the 2022 finals in December 2010 on the basis it would take place in the Summer, in air-conditioned stadiums
