65 year old to dleiver Tripplet
A 65-year-old schoolteacher in Germany, who already has 13 kids, is set to be the oldest woman ever to give birth to quadruplets.
Annegret Raunigk’s brood will grow to a whopping 17 children thanks to a recent bout of artificial insemination in which she was given both donated sperm and eggs.
Ms Raunigk, from Berlin, Germany, shot to notoriety when she had a daughter, Leila, at the age of 55.
Her 13 children are by five different fathers and the oldest is now 44, according to Mail on Sunday. Ms Raunigk, who is 21 weeks pregnant, will be featured in a TV documentary.
She said she was shocked when a scan showed she was carrying four babies and her gynaecologist initially raised the option of an obortion.
Despite being due to retire from teaching this year, Ms Raunigk decided to go ahead with the pregnancy and said she was “still quite fit” and able to look after four babies.
The English and Russian teacher does not see her age as a problem to motherhood and said: “I think one needs to decide for oneself and not listen too much to the opinions of others.”
The oldest woman on record to have quads is Merryl Fudel, who was 55 when she gave birth. Indian Omkari Panwar, was thought to be the oldest woman ever to give birth, at the age of 70.
