Sweden’s 1,500 meters indoor world champion Abeba Aregawi was suspended Monday after testing positive for a banned substance.

The country’s athletics federation made the announcement just two days after standing by Aregawi following a controversy over her tax affairs.

The Federation’s General Secretary Stefan Olsson said that Sweden holds zero tolerance to all forms of doping, cheating or usage of illicit substances in a statement.

A Swedish newspaper reported that the substance, which as yet has not been named, was discovered following a test in Addis Ababa earlier this year.

The 25 year-old Ethiopian-born first competed for Sweden in 2012 after being granted citizenship, before going on to win the world outdoor 1,500 title the following year.
