Zimbawbe hunters’ raffle angers animal rights groups
A raffle which gives would-be hunters the chance to kill a lion has angered animal rights activists. The prize is being offered under the headline “Win a lion!” on the website of Zimbabwe’s Bubye Valley Conservancy.
The raffles has 100 tickets priced at 1,500 dollars each, the winner gets an 18-day “lion safari” with a “full lion trophy hunt”. Alternatively the winners can choose not to shoot a lion and instead name it for research purposes. This comes months after the killing of Cecil the lion in Zimbabwe by an American dentist prompted outrage from campaigners.
