Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Wednesday rescued a Zimbabwean woman and her three children who had been stranded in the DR Congo for the past three years, local online website, the Herald said.
According to the report, as the president visited the country on Tuesday, he heard about the woman’s predicament and decided to return with her on his presidential plane on his way back home.
The 28-year-old Ms. Blessing Kapora has for the past year been trying to go back home without success.
Ms. Kapora left Zimbabwe for South Africa in 2008, where she met her Congolese husband where they were both employed.
In 2013 they both lost their jobs and returned back to Congo in 2015. The husband later in 2017 went back to South Africa leaving her and their children back in Congo.
Kapora hoped to go back home in Zimbabwe when life became unbearable but was unable to afford the trip back home.
She expressed gratitude to the President for finally making her dream of going back home come true.
