Zimbabwe receives a million dollars and tonnes of rice

India donated a million dollars and 500 tonnes of rice to Zimbabwe for drought relief assistance following long spells of drought by the El Nino that affected most parts of the south African nation according to reports by the Herald.

“Zimbabwe launched a global appeal for drought relief assistance following the effected of the El Nino induced drought which resulted in massive crop failure in the country.. The government and people of Zimbabwe are humbled by the speed which the Government of India has responded to the appeal.” Said Dr Misheck Sibanda, the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet

President Mugabe managed to sign bilateral agreements with India during the 3rd India-Africa Summit last year October, including an agreement of credit worth 89 million dollars for the refurbishment of the Hwange Thermal Power station.
