Zimbabwe civil servants relieved after govt announces pay dates

Read < 1 minute

civil-servantsZimbabwe’s government has announced July pay-dates for civil servants which will see most of them getting paid at the end of August, The Herald reports.

The announcement comes as a relief in the civil service and perhaps a damper to the opposition parties who sought to use government’s workers to boost their protests.

Members of the Zimbabwe National Army and Air Force of Zimbabwe will be paid on 23 August.

They will be followed by those in the health sector on 26 August.

The police and the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services will be paid on 30 August.

Teachers will receive their salaries on 2 September while the rest of the civil service will be paid on 5 September and pensioners on 9 September.
