Former Zambian president Kenneth Kaunda has left hospital after several days of treatment, local media report.
Kaunda, the country’s independence leader is reported to have been discharged on Saturday in Lusaka, but is set to return at an undisclosed date for previously scheduled tests.
ZNBC had earlier quoted the health minister as saying Kaunda had been suffering from “minor complaints.”
The 93-year-old became Zambia’s leader after independence from Britain in 1964, and ruled until 1991.
During his rule, Zambia remained a one-party state for most of the time. He however yielded to pressure and held a multi-party vote.
He peacefully handed over power when he lost.
