Zambia reports 408 new COVID-19 cases as total surges to 5,963
Zambia’s COVID-19 cases have continued to surge with the country recording 408 new cases in the last 24 hours, its health ministry said on Friday.
This brings the cumulative number of cases to 5,963 since the outbreak of the pandemic in March.
Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary Kennedy Malama said during a daily COVID-19 update that the new cases were picked from 1,611 tests conducted in the last 24 hours.
He said the new cases also include 15 health workers and four truck drivers.
The country also discharged 514 patients, bringing the total recoveries to 3,803 while two more patients died, bringing the total deaths to 151.
The country has so far conducted 83,093 tests since the outbreak of the pandemic.
