Manchester City’s Ivorian star Yaya Toure grabbed a brace as he got a rare starting birth in the side, his first game of the season after new coach Pep Guardiola exiled him from the team.

Yaya scored both goals as Manchester City labored for a win away at Crystal Palace.

The 33-year old got a very warm reception from the travelling Manchester City fans who chanted his name throughout the game.

His teammates too appreciated his efforts, clapping for him as they went back into the dressing room at the final whistle.

Yaya thanked his manager and teammates after the game, expressing his joy at returning to the side.

“I was delighted to play and I am very happy to be playing football,” he said.

“I was prepared mentally and I knew that one day my manager would need me,” he added.

Pep Guardiola also heaped praise on Yaya, hailing his attitude.

“The last month and a half, Yaya was amazing in training,” Guardiola said. “His behaviour is absolutely everything.

“I am so happy for Yaya, he is a really nice guy. His weight is perfect now, and there are no doubts about his quality.”
