World bank puts Niger’s unemployment rate at 6.7%

Youth unemployment is a massive problem in Niger, which analysts say is feeding insecurity and social instability. Government figures suggest that unemployment is at 2.6 percent, but this kind of information is hard to come by in Niger and experts believe the number is actually much higher.

The World Bank put it at 6.7 percent in 2013.
