World Athletics has ratified the world record set by Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon in the 1,500m.

Kipyegon clocked a time of 3:49.04 to win the event at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Paris on July 7.

The 30-year-old shattered her previous record over the distance of 3:49.11 at the Golden Gala, a Wanda Diamond League meeting, in Florence in June.

After the race in Florence, Kipyegon famously remarked, “There’s still more to come.”

World Athletics also ratified six other world records set since December last year, including three by Kenyan female athletes.

They include the women’s world 5km (women-only) of 14:13 set by Beatrice Chebet on December 31, 2023 in Barcelona.

The other two records were both set by Agnes Jebet Ngetich, who ran a time of 14:13 in the women’s world 5km record (mixed) and 28:46 in the women’s world 10km record (mixed). Both records were set in Valencia in mid-January.

Kipyegon and Chebet are participating in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
