A Colombian woman is reportedly to have swallowed $ 7,000 in notes in a bid to hide the money from her husband during a domestic spate.
Speaking to local television channel RCN, the woman said that she had saved up the money for a holiday with her husband after having sold several electrical household items, and was afraid her husband would spend it.
Doctors surgically removed 57 pieces of $100 notes from the 30-year-old woman’s stomach and intestines. The rest of the bills were passed through her colon, the Independent reports.
Director of Surgery at the University Hospital of Santander, Juan Paulo Serrano, said the majority of the bills were extracted through gastronomy through the stomach.
Additional rolls would be passed through the colon, he added.
