A Zimbabwean woman died after her genitals were cut in a procedure that was hoped to help her conceive. The 33 year old woman died in northern Zimbambwe on Thursday according to the official chronicle newspaper.

Selina Mugande was undergoing the cut at home performed by her husband’s grandmother, Martha Muzamba, 71 who was arrested. The deceased was rushed to the hospital due to excessive bleeding from the blade cut.

The victim died after three days out of the hospital succumbing to excessive bleeding.
