In 1955, the world was a very different place. The Cold War was at its peak and suspicion was rampant among the countries. This was the backdrop of the first Asian-African conference.

Indonesia as a young country was trying to create an alternative to the divided world, and China, secluded for so long, was looking to connect. The man in the thick of things was Situ Meizen, a Chinese Indonesian who helped connect the two Asian Giants.
