The disease broke out in the East African country last week, killing two people, while more than 50 others have been put under surveillance by health officials.
WHO sent a Rapid Response team to the epicenter of the break-out in a bid to avoid any further spread of the disease.
The agency also notified neighbouring Kenya to remain alert since a spill-over was highly likely.
Kween, where the outbreak occurred, is a mountainous district with poor road network that borders Kenya, and locals are known to interact.
MVD resembles Ebola Virus Disease in terms of transmission and presentation, meaning its containment is a race against time for local and international health workers currently battling the outbreak.
WHO set up an isolation unit at Kapronron Health Center IV whose catchment area covers the epicentre and where the confirmed and suspected case were residing.
The agency has also urged all people who came into contact with the infected people to come forward. It noted that one person, a brother to one of those confirmed to have been infected, had disappeared on learning that he was needed for monitoring.
It said a search operation was already put in place to find him.
WHO also lamented the poor road network in the region, saying it was an impediment to health workers accessing all parts of the affected area.
