U.S. President Donald Trump’s White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany on Monday announced that she had tested positive for coronavirus.

“After testing negative consistently, including every day since Thursday, I tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday morning while experiencing no symptoms,” McEnany’s statement read in part.

“No reporters, producers, or members of the press are listed as close contacts by the White House Medical Unit.”

“Moreover, I definitively had no knowledge of Hope Hicks’ diagnosis prior to holding a White House press briefing on Thursday,” she said.

Last week, White House aide Hicks tested positive for the coronavirus prompting a quarantine for Trump and his wife Melania. Trump would subsequently announce that the couple tested positive for the virus.

McEnany said she will go into self-quarantine and continue discharging her duties remotely.

McEnany becomes the latest member of the president’s inner circle to have tested positive. Others are First Lady Melania, Hicks, Trump’s former counsellor Kellyanne Conway and former New Jersey governor and adviser Chris Christie.
