The senior Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission in Nigeria is at the centre of a drama from reactions that trailing his actions.

The Commander was pictured cutting the long hair of female members of the commission for flouting the organization’s dress code.

The incident happened Monday while the senior commander was carrying out a routine inspection of junior officers in the city of Port Harcourt in the south of country.

Ironically, the Photos were taken by officials of the commission and posted on the organization’s website perhaps show the commander takes the issue of indiscipline seriously. But the whole thing backfired when the photos went viral social media and a deluge of criticism followed.

“I think the FRSC official that was wearing long hair, I think it wasn’t right. I’m sure they have code of conduct. I’m very sure what she did was a disregard for their code of conduct but I think what the FRSC commander was supposed to have done was to caution her and she would go and loosen the hair privately. But I think what he did publicly was wrong” said Gregory Azemebo, Social Worker

“What the man did was very wrong. He shouldn’t have cut off her hair in public for that matter. No, it’s not acceptable.” Juliet Akpan, Hairstylist

“You don’t have to disgrace the person by chopping off the person’s hair like that. What you need to do is call the person to order, warn him or her never carry such hair on parade ground and not to go about cutting their hair. It’s a sign of disrespect.” Said Royalty Akpos-Pepe, Lagos Resident

“They should have been invited to the office, questioned. There is a handbook, the handbook shown to them; this how youre supposed to dress, this how you’re not supposed to dress, given warning. Next time we see you, this is what will happen. But to be arbitrary. Are we saying the man himself is a Saint?” said Matthew Onah, Lawyer

The Federal Road Safety Corps has now recalled the commander and other officers involved in the incident saying it wants to properly investigate the issue.
