UNSC condemns attack, vows support to Egypt
Members of the United Nations Security Council have strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Egypt’s Sinai Penisula.
Militants detonated a roadside bomb and set armored vehicles ablaze, killing at least 18 policemen and injuring three others.
The UNSC has described the Monday attack as heinous and of cowardly nature.
In a statement, the authority expressed its deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government of Egypt.
The Council members also reaffirmed its commitment to fight terrorism, underlining the need to bring perpetrator and financiers and of such acts of terrorism to justice.
The attack claimed by ISIL militants is so far the deadliest in recent months since July.
