The United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has launched a new UN report that highlights the progress made in achieving the Millennium Development Goals meant to lift people out of extreme poverty and improve their lives. African countries have recorded mixed success rates, doing well in some goals, and lagging behind in others. Ban Ki-Moon is calling for global support for what he says is a strong, ambitious successor blueprint.
