Unemployment Crisis in Nigeria
Nigeria which is Africa’s second biggest economy is battling a serious unemployment crisis that is increasingly becoming a cause for concern. The recent deaths of at least 15 people who died in a stampede during a job application exercise for a vacancy at Nigerian immigration service department exposed how desperate job situation is becoming in Nigerians. According to Nigeria’s National Bureau of Statistics unemployment in the country is headed towards an alarming 40 percent mark. While the country has vast natural resources including oil, millions of Nigerians can barely set a meal on their tables.
