UN seeks $1.9 million to address drought situation in the Horn of Africa

The African Union says its emergency fund for drought and famine is unable to offer support to the countries currently affected by drought.

More than 30 years after it was set up, the contributions meant to sustain the fund are yet to be realized. The United Nations is seeking 1.9 billion dollars to address drought in the Horn of Africa.
