UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has strongly condemned the twin suicide bombings that targeted the city of Fotokol in the north of Cameroon on 12 July.
The attack was the very first by Boko Haram in the country. Ban Ki-moon called for better co-operation to fight the militants.
In the statement, he extended his condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government, wishing a speedy recovery to those injured in the terrorist attack.
At least 11 people were killed when two women blew themselves up in the border town of Fotokol in northern Cameroon.
He also commended the authorities and people of Cameroon for welcoming refugees from the region since the beginning of Boko Haram crisis.
He expressed his support for the government and countries of the region encouraging them to further strengthen their cooperation in addressing the threat posed by Boko Haram as well ensure strict compliance with the international humanitarian and human rights law.
