Read < 1 minute

The United Nations has been responding to Kenya’s recent announcement it plans to shut down two massive refugee camps.

The UN’s stepped up plans to repatriate thousands of Somalis back to their home country.

The UN says all-in-all it’s repatriated 13 thousand eight hundred people since the voluntary program was started in December 2014.

Several UN agencies have spoken out against Kenya’s decision to shut down the refugee camps. Government plans to do so by May next year. The shut-downs will affect 600 thousand people.
