The UN Assistance Mission in Somalia, or UNisom is here to stay. The mission has been in the country a year now, and it’s mandate has now been extended. It focuses on several areas of peace- and nation-building, while the UN-backed African-Union force, AMISOM, is actively engaging Al-Shabaab militants.
