The United Nations has awarded the “Peace Medal of Honor” to the 18th contingent of Chinese peacekeepers in Liberia for its peacekeeping efforts in the west African country.
At the award ceremony in Monrovia, UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Liberia Farid Zarif congratulated the 508 Chinese peacekeeping soldiers and lauded their performance and contributions in their mission in Liberia.
The 18th contingent of Chinese peacekeepers in Liberia took part in development projects in transport, engineering and medical detachments. It arrived in the country last September.
