UK tourists advised to leave Tunisia

UK Foreign Secretary tells all British nationals to leave Tunisia, warning that more terrorist attacks are highly likely.

According to BBC, the Foreign Secretary, Mr Hammond said there was no suggestion of a “specific or imminent threat”, but said the Foreign Office was advising against all non-essential travel there.

The Foreign Office estimates that up to 3,000 UK tourists are currently in Tunisia plus a number of  British residents.

It estimates there are up to 3,000 UK tourists currently in Tunisia and a few hundred British residents.

The Foreign Secretary said that the latest attack in Sousse and threat pictures have developed considerably hence resulting to the view that a further terrorist attack is highly likely. He further said that they did not have any information suggesting a specific threat.

On 26 June 2015, there was an Islamic terror attack at a tourist resort at Port El Kantaoui, north of the city of Sousse, Tunisia

38 people were killed when armed gunmen attacked a hotel. Of the 38 people, 30 of them were British nationals.
