Uganda’s Shisha Bill

Concern is rising in Uganda over the increasing number of youth smoking shisha pipes. Shisha is a type of smoking where flavoured tobacco is mixed with water and then drawn from a device known as hookahs. Medical experts are worried it could be harmful and poses serious health risks including Cancer. According to a World Health Organization report an average 37 people in Uganda die every day due to tobacco -related illness. The Uganda Parliament and the Ministry of health now want to introduce legislation to ban Shisha smoking as well as provide guidelines for tobacco smokers.
