Uganda’s Yoweri Museveni will be officially sworn in as president of the country tomorrow in a ceremony expected to be graced by several heads of state from across the continent.

Museveni, 71, who came to power in 1986 and is one of Africa’s longest-serving rulers, won the February 18 vote with 60 percent of the votes.

Opposition leader and long-time rival of Museveni Dr. Kizza Besigye dismissed the results of the poll as fraudulent, claiming the country’s electoral commission had favoured Museveni.

Before the February 18 vote, Besigye had challenged Museveni and lost in three elections.
