Uganda’s former minister of Ethics and Integrity, Miria Matembe has called for the castration of foreign businessmen who sexually abuse female employees, New Vision newspaper reports.
“I didn’t know that our women are being dehumanised to this level by these so-called investors under our nose. This degradation is turning Ugandans into nothing in their country.” Matembe said while at a press conference organised by activists campaigning against sexual harassment
The call from Matembe came after she heard the testimony of two women who said they had been sexually abused at their workplace.
According to the report, one of the women accused her boss of beating her up whenever she refused to have oral sex with him. She also said that at one instance the boss called her into his office closed the door while his gun rested on his table and forced her to have oral sex.
She reported the matter to the police but did not yield any results.
The other woman said that she was forced to perform sex acts on her boss over a period of two years.
The woman reported the case to the police but was told by a female officer that it was normal for a boss to ask his employees for sex, this according to the report.
The executive director of the Foundation for Human Rights Initiative, Livingstone Sewanyana promised to help the two women find justice.
