Uganda’s electoral commission boss Badru Kiggundu has defended his role in court over the 2016 polls. Lawyers representing former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi had tasked him to explain the authenticity of the data the commission used, to declare President Museveni as the winner.

Badu Kiggundu argued that the electoral commission did not conceal any information during the tallying of results.
President Yoweri Museveni, was declared winner with 61% of the vote.
Amama Mbabazi, who came third, wants court to annul the election because of claims of massive rigging.
In his petition Mbabazi wants the electoral commission to clarify the number of voters who caste their ballots.

Both parties are now racing against time to beat the 30 days deadline for the petition.
Main opposition candidate Kizza Besigye has also refuted the election, calling for an independent audit.
Uganda’s electoral commission boss Dr. Badru Kiggundu is the first among the thirty witnesses that will testify in this petition. Court has five days to hear from witnesses and a ruling will be made in two weeks.”.
