Rabbit

A group of young people in Uganda is cashing in on breeding rabbits.

The farmers say they have recorded a high turnover from the sale of rabbit meat and are now expanding their business to tap into the growing market.

The young farmers say breeding rabbits is a great investment for them because rearing the bunnies requires less capital compared to other animals since they occupy less space, and they offer high returns over a short period of time.

A rabbit ready for sale matures within just twelve weeks.

The farmers are now looking to tap into the hotel industry, as they now supply the rabbit meat to restaurants and even supermarkets.

Health experts recommend rabbit meat because of it is rich in protein and low on cholesterol.

Other than the health benefits, there is no doubt  rabbit farming is becoming a lucrative business in Uganda.
