Uganda set to name French tactician as Cranes’ coach

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) is set to unveil French tactician Sebastien Desabre as the new coach for the national side.
Desabre was among four men shortlisted by FUFA for the position on December 22. The others were current interim coach Moses Basena, Johnny McKinstry from Northern Ireland and Belgian Emilio Ferrera.
He resigned from his position as the head coach of Egyptian side Ismaily earlier, an indication that he has reached an agreement with the East African team.
The French side has never coached a national team, but has a lot of club experience from coaching a number of clubs in North Africa.
The selection of Uganda Cranes coach was spearheaded by Zambia’s Kalusha Bwalya, who worked with a five-man technical committee.
The Cranes have been without a fulltime coach since Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic terminated his contract over the issue of unpaid wages in July.
