Uganda reports 224 new COVID-19 cases, total rises to 6,712
Uganda’s Ministry of Health on Tuesday reported 244 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, raising the national total to 6,712.
Of the 244 cases, 219 were contacts and alerts while 24 were returnees and one was a truck driver.
Among the 244 new cases, Kirayandongo district had a total of 29 cases followed by the capital Kampala with 23 cases.
All of the 24 returnees who tested positive for COVID-19 were from India.
Meanwhile, the one Ugandan truck driver who tested positive was from neighboring Kenya.
The ministry reported one fatality as the death toll stands at 64 while the number of recoveries stands at 2,778.
