Uganda gov’t launches website to reduce business setup hurdles
The Ugandan government has launched a dedicated website to support potential local and foreign investors. Officials say this web portal will help cut down on the cost and time taken to start and run a business.
At just a click of a button, the site simplifies all the procedures that a potential investor has to go through to start a business.
The integrated online system www.eBiz.go.ug will link all the government agencies that deal with business licensing in Uganda.
Registering a new business in Uganda currently takes a period of between four to six months.
Uganda’s investment authority says this process will be brought down to just a couple of days.
Once fully operational, users will be able to apply for investment and trading licenses, work permits, tax registration and make online payments for the services.
Officials however say the challenge with the web portal may be the public perception towards doing business online.
