Uganda has passed a bill that bans smoking in public places. The country’s Parliament has also increased the minimum smoking age limit to 21 and restricted advertising of cigarettes.

The new law aims to provide 100% smoke free environments as a way for discouraging smokers.

According to the World Health Organisation, exposure to tobacco use contributes to none communicable diseases.

In Uganda, the diseases contributed to about 25% of all deaths last year. CCTV’S Isabel Nakirya reports.
