UEFA Champions league last 16 draw; all you need to know

The Champions League draw for the Round of 16 is set to be held today at 1100GMT in in Nyon, Switzerland.

The 16 teams that qualified from the 8 groups will then know who they face in the first knock-out stage.

  • Group A – Manchester United, Basel
  • Group B – Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich
  • Group C – Roma, Chelsea
  • Group D – Barcelona, Juventus
  • Group E – Liverpool, Sevilla
  • Group F – Manchester City, Shakhtar Donetsk
  • Group G – Besiktas, Porto
  • Group H – Tottenham, Real Madrid

The teams are seeded in two pots – one consisting of group winners while the other is made up of teams that finishes second in their groups.

  • Pot 1: Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Roma, Barcelona, Liverpool, Manchester City, Besiktas, Tottenham
  • Pot:2: Basel, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Juventus, Sevilla, Shakhtar Donetsk, Porto, Real Madrid

How the draw works?

No team can play a club from their original group, or from their domestic league. For instance, none of the five English teams that qualified can play each other in the Round of 16.

Possible opponents for Premier League teams?

Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool finished top of Group E, and may face Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Shakhtar Donetsk, Basel or Porto.

Eric Baily’s Manchester United finished top of Group A and will face either Bayern Munich, Juventus, Sevilla, Shakhtar Donestk, Porto or Real Madrid.

Fellow Manchester side – The Citizens – finished top of Group F and may go up against Basel, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Sevilla, Porto or Real Madrid.

London side Tottenham also finished top of Group H, and will face either Basel, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Sevilla, Shakhtar Donetsk or Porto.

Victor Moses’ Chelsea side finished second in Group C, and may face either Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona or Besiktas.
