Two killed in helicopter crash in Kenya
Two people were killed on Monday after a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) helicopter crashed in Kenya’s Machakos County, the force said.
“Today 13th July, 2020, at around 1130hrs, a Kenya Army helicopter (Hughes 500MD), crashed in the general area of Kithyoko, Machakos County,” a KDF statement said.
“The aircraft was on a training flight. Onboard were two pilots who have since been evacuated from the crash site.”
The cause of the crash had not been established by the time of publication.
The helicopter was among six aircrafts that were acquired by the Kenyan government in January 2020 from the United States in efforts to bolster the KDF’s air vigilance against terrorism.
