
Turkish President Erdogan to attend BRICS Summit

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is set to embark on a tour of Africa, which will see him attend the 2018 BRICS Summit in Johannesburg.
Erdogan is expected to stay in South Africa between 25 and 27 June, after which he will travel to Zambia.
While in South Africa, the Turkish leader will meet Russia’s President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the Summit.
Erdogan has been keen on expanding Turkey’s presence in both Islamic and non-Islamic African nations since he was elected president in 2014. He has visited 20 African countries since.
All BRICS members’ leaders are expected to attend the Summit which kicks off on Wednesday.
Chinese President arrived in South Africa on Monday ahead of the meeting, and has been holding talks with his South African counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa.
Also expected in South Africa are Russian president Vladimir Putin, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Brazilian President Michel Temer.
