Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yldirim has issued a strong message against terrorism.

Yldirim’s statement comes after a lone gunman killed at least 39 people in a packed nightclub on the shores of Istanbul’s Bosphorus waterway on New Year’s Eve.

“Terror cannot intimidate us. We will continue to fight against it. Our biggest insurance is to see our people standing in solidarity and supporting our resolve. As long as this solidarity continues, there is nothing we can’t overcome.”

Turkish police are still hunting for the suspect. The Prime Minister says more details are emerging and that police will inform the public about their investigations.

France has, meanwhile, confirmed that one of the dead is a French-Tunisian national. Three of the wounded are still in critical condition.

Turkish police have released the first picture of the prime suspect in the Istanbul nightclub attack, as the gunman remains on the run, the Mirror reports
