Tunisia sends 1st ship of humanitarian aid to Gaza
Tunisia on Monday sent the first ship loaded with 1,609 tons of food and medical aid to the Palestinians in Gaza, reported the Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP).
“The ship left the port of Rades, in the southern suburbs of the capital Tunis towards Egypt, as part of humanitarian solidarity with the Palestinian people,” Bouthyna Gregba, official spokesperson of the Tunisian Red Crescent (CRT), was quoted by TAP as saying.
“This humanitarian ship carried two ambulances, four mobile health care units, 19 water tanks, a dialysis unit, as well as medicines and food aid,” Gregba said.
The CRT spokesperson affirmed that this ship will dock at Port Said, Egypt, on July 25 to unload humanitarian aid. Trucks will transport it to Gaza via the Rafah border crossing in coordination with the Egyptian authorities and the Egyptian Red Crescent.
The Tunisian humanitarian aid is considered one of the first aid transported by sea for Gazans.
